In one instance, a large online retailer with physical infrastructure was facing issues with its low levels of redundancy, limited maintenance windows, and high operations and maintenance costs. Taking hold of the situation, IIS virtualized the customer’s entire infrastructure, including Windows servers and desktops. As a result, the client achieved a physical-to-virtual consolidation ratio of 20:1; hardware cost reductions of 9:1; and a Capex/Opex reduction of 92 percent along with ROI in just over one year.
